Volunteer appreciation & A special surprise...
This past weekend was volunteer appreciation weekend and for one of our volunteers we had a very special surprise.
Bonne Beachy was awarded the very FIRST annual SPRIRIT AWARD in recognition of all that she has done for us these past years! Bonnie has been with us through thick and thin, and we wouldn't be here without her - THANK YOU BONNIE!
AND THANK YOU TO ALL OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS!
OUR MINIS HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING!
Both TROUBLE & HAMMY have been ADOPTED!!!! Woohoo!
We will miss them on the farm but are excited they have found their forever home!
Recently we came across three minis: Little Butter Bean, Cinnamon, and Peanut! They are available for adoption - check them out HERE.
They were on their way to slaughter but we diverted them to the Ranch, where their healing can now begin!
The pregnant mare unfortunately lost her baby due to the stress, but she is healthy now and they are ALL SAFE!
Big Heehaw shouts to our donors who helped make this happen....
We couldn't do this without each and every one of you!
In Case you missed it...the directors have gone MAD!
Was it the heat or an explosion of hormones??? We may never know but for whatever reason the Ranch Critter Directors traveled to Skydive Spaceland and took a leap out of a plane!!! This makes horseback riding seem like couch surfing!!!
Thanks to our ground crew who supported our adventure(we don't have any money...remember we run a rescue) so they must love us!! HEEHAW!!! Horse back riding and skydiving all in the same weekend!!!!

BBQ ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
PRE-SALE OF RAFFLE TICKETS FOR OUR VIDA LOCA TEQUILA BASKET-
HELLO HEEHAW CREW - EXCITING NEWS:
The change in our FUNDRAISER DATE has caused several people to no longer be able to come -
So that no one is left we have decided to sell RAFFLE TICKETS ON-LINE FOR THE PURA VIDA TEQUILA BASKET!!!
Please note to add your name and the number of tickets you are purchasing to your order.
We are very sad to announce that due to the continued rain we have to cancel our fundraiser at this time.
Thankfully, we have been offered a doable option - SUNDAY, MAY 17, Snowdonia Farms (where Ambassador Ellie Mae and Lori train) owner, Jayne Lloyd, has graciously and generously offered to let us set up a space.
The arena is fully covered so no worries about rain!
We will be bringing many of our silent auction items that will have "buy it now" prices or will run as part of the silent auction for the duration of the show. Credit cards accepted.
Snowdonia Farms is located at 21605 Mueschke Rd, Tomball, TX 77377.
IT HAS BEEN A BUMPY RIDE, thanks to all this rain...
We are finally getting our feet back on the ground...a whirlwind of changes due to the non-cooperative nature of the rain.
THIS SATURDAY is our final FUNDRAISING EVENT - come join us Saturday May 23rd from 8am onwards at the HOUSE OF HELP in HEMPSTEAD, TX for our final fundraising event - GARAGE SALE - EVERYTHING MUST GO!
We'd like to thank all those who have supported, donated, purchased, and physically helped during this time - it means the world to us!
We have been able to raise about 2/3 of the needed funds, which is less than what we would have hoped for but more than expected with a fully canceled fundraiser... stay tuned, we should be planning something for later in the year!
ALSO new VOLUNTEER CERTIFICATION CLASS ADDED June 13th 9am-11am - please call to be added to the roster.
ELLIE MAE OUR AMBASSADOR, AT IT AGAIN!
"TAPS MIC, CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE..."

THANK YOU SEEMS TO BE A WORD WE'VE BEEN USING A LOT LATELY...
A LOT OF CHANGES - AND GOOD ONES AT THAT!
In the span of 1 week we have had two of our monthly sponsors raise their sponsorship level to "Full monthly sponsors"! Thank you Nicole Duwaerts forbeing the first, and a huge thank you to BJ Prather for following closely behind and fully sponsoring two of our babies!
We have secured corporate sponsorship from Kroger for our fundraiser and are working hard with Tractor Supply Company in Brenham to make them a corporate sponsor as well!
Also we would like to give a heart felt thank you to Caroline Duwaerts, Nicole's daughter, for all the work she has done in the shadows on updating our website (all the changes you see are hers), keeping our Facebook fresh, putting together our monthly newsletter, starting our two fundraisers (T-shirt Booster + Bravelets), and most recently sponsoring the purchase of extra t-shirts for the fundraiser.
To say we are ecstatic is at this point an understatement!!!!
TO OLD, NEW, AND FUTURE VOLUNTEERS -
PLEASE VISIT OUR TAB: VOLUNTEERS

MESSAGE FROM THE RANCH'S CRITTERS - PLEASE READ!
Alright HeeHaw Crew - An IMPORTANT (LONG) MESSAGE – PLEASE READ!
Many people don’t realize how much it actually costs us to save all these animals.
Well here are the BARE-BONE numbers -
$275 for an adult horse
$315 (and up) for a senior horse
BUT IN REALITY, there is never a year without an EMERGENCY... SO THE ACTUAL COST OF RUNNING THE RANCH CRITTERS IS:
WE ARE GREATFUL to all our monthly donors, one-time donors, donors in kind, AND donors in time!
But unfortunately that alone is not enough.
So if you are annoyed by the increase in posts from this page, we do apologize, but the truth of the matter is at the rate we are saving horses and the lack of funding this endeavor will not last much longer.
We have saved 130 HORSES in just a few short years, and WANT TO SAVE SO MANY MORE!
WE ARE ASKING TODAY, that anyone who can and is willing to, that they sign up to sponsor a horse, donate, or even find corporate sponsors.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, KINDNESS, AND LOVE OF ANIMALS!
We are starting a new safety program for all volunteers, regardless of how long you've been with us. We want to start everyone in the same place, no "grandfathering" in. This will be effective immediately.
VOLUNTEER SAFETY COURSE I (Basic volunteer safety/orientation) will help us ensure that all volunteers handling horses and the horses themselves will be safe - $5 donation to cover costs of printing materials
Until you each receive your HeeHaw Safety Certification, you will not be able to participate in horse management. Please note all CHILDREN LESS THAN 16 yrs of age must be accompanied by an adult.
PLEASE SEE THE CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR ALL CLASS OFFERINGS
You must attend one of these trainings to receive your certification. Both classes will start promptly on time. If you are unable to attend either training, we will offer a third training sometime in April before the fundraiser.
You will receive a handbook and certificate of completion.
Each individual will be able to physically and mentally demonstrate proper horse handling techniques after the training. We will demonstrate and walk you each through all the components and you will each be individually tested.
TOPICS: safety in pasture, catching, properly latching gates, proper haltering technique, grooming techniques, identification of basic horse body parts, and routine ranch chore expectations.
We will also be implementing a "three strikes" safety policy that will remove you from handling the horses until you have retaken the course. Please understand that we strongly feel that safety is first at all times.
Rules at the Ranch are to be followed at all times in order for all of us to have a positive experience.
We are also planning a second course - VOLUNTEER SAFETY COURSE II (RIDING) for those of you interested in riding any of the horses here at the Ranch. This new HeeHaw Rider Safety Program will be 4-6 weeks with a $150 donation fee. Anyone interested must first pass the Volunteer Safety Course then you will be allowed to sign up for the Rider Course. The goal of this program is to have qualified, safe riders help us condition the horses.
**Participation as volunteer and/or rider is a privilege and may be revoked at either director's discretion (Charlie Renken or Gwen Murphy).
Please shoot us an email to confirm your participation in the safety program and the date you will be attending.
Thank you for all that you do and for helping us make the Ranch an even better, safer place for all of us...critter and human alike!
Be blessed to be a blessing

The Ranch Critter family had to say goodbye to two family members in October '18 Our beloved Tank, who for his entire life here had greeted each visitor to RC with a wagging tail and an open heart.... and Honey, a 29 year old quarter horse who came to RC with injuries resulting from years of doing everything that was asked of her ..... at least we were able to give her a stress free life during her time with us.... R.I.P.
On FaceBook you can read a beautiful and personal tribute to Honey from Gwenn Murphy, one of the Directors here at Ranch Critters.
Ranch Critters said goodbye to our Feisty Senior " AL"
He reached the grand old age of 31 and will be remembered as the crafty and unique character that he was
1990 - 2021
Not long after we lost our beloved Tank ... these two
amazing little critters 'just happened along' for anyone who believes that.
We think Tank had a part in making our paths cross and our grief lighten.
Jewel arrived in Mar '19 and after a dental check it was discovered she had NO upper teeth - she had a special senior diet from then on -
Jewel adopted several of our 'Littles' where she watched over them for a long as she was able. They miss her as do all the Ranch Critters
